2007AGV becomes part of Dainese

Motorcycling greats like Giacomo Agostini, Barry Sheene and Kenny Roberts, together with Formula 1 champions such as Niki Lauda, Nelson Piquet and Emerson Fittipaldi made AGV synonymous with great design and great achievements. AGV’s history is a story of racers, enthusiasts and passion. And now – having previously been owned by a Belgian investment fund - the company’s back in Italian hands. That’s a challenge which carries many responsibilities, but it also creates infinite opportunities for AGV and Dainese together.

TWO LEADING COMPANIES IN THE SAFETY MARKET... TOGETHER

July 30th, 2007 Lino Dainese, Dainese S.p.A. President, signs the deal that concludes the acquisition of AGV. This operation see the union of two leading Italian companies that have lived under the spotlight of the racing world for many years.

"When Franco Scanagatta came to me in Spring 2007 with the news that we might be able to buy AGV, I was initially speechless with emotion. I had known Gino Amisano since the seventies, when I met him at the “Imola 200 Miles”, the legendary race imported from the states by Checco Costa. Gino Amisano from Valenza had inspired me for so many years. He had formed the AGV name and logo from the initials of his own name and home town, then accompanied them with the colours of the Italian flag, anticipating our own proud awareness of what Made in Italy stands for today. The best racers in the world wore his crash helmets. His innovations in composite materials and in shell design, including the form of the “full-face” helmet, had made AGV the undisputed world leader and enabled it to maintain that leadership until the early nineties.
